Hey guys! This is a very cool show! If you are in the L.A or Culver City area you need to check this out. I am excited to have one of my drawings shown amongst over 100 other artist at Thinkspace Gallery. Click on the image below to see who is showing.
This exhibition raises awareness about the precarious predicament of wild creatures
around the world, and a portion of the sales go to Born Free USA and the Animal Protection Institute to benefit efforts to protect them in their
natural habitat. Click here for sneek peaks and more information on the show, or view the facebook event page.

Clean Folded Corners
Art stores do not always carry the canvas size you want. More importantly, art stores sell canvases that are as loose as flags. So I started making my own nice, tight and springy canvases! Eventually, I made a tutorial on making your own canvas.
And one thing I learned is that clean corners and sides make a big difference in the presentation of your art if shown unframed. Thick profile canvases are often hung unframed but messy sides are not too appealing.

It took me a while, but I figured out a way to fold nice smooth corners. If done well (and I am still practicing) it would not look like the panel has fabric stretched over the bends of the wood bars.

Click on "Stretch a Canvas" in the top menu, or click here and scroll down for the details.

MOMENT
Last night I went to check out Gold Star Bar. Great art is currently being shown there! The title of the exhibition is "Moment":

'All that really belongs to us is time; even he who has nothing else has that' - Baltasar Gracian
We are all connected and connecting through a series of moments; these women artists show their works of the moment with an underlying cohesion, dynamism and force.
Moment is a group art show featuring contemporary female artists from San Francisco. Curated by Angela Casserly. Showcasing; painting, photography, mixed media by artists:
Kylea Borges
Chelsea Brown
Krescent Carasso
Angela Casserly
Christelle de Castro
Claire Colette
Xiau-Fong Wee
Nicole Hagen
Danielle Lawrence
Tracy Timmins
Rachel Znerold

All the art there is great! There is a good variety from photography to drawings and paintings, as well as surreal sculptures. I have two paintings from the 'Concept' series shown there- "Dance from Below" and "White Demon." Thanks to Angela Casserly and Andrei Bouzikov for curating and setting up the show! Click on their names to see their amazing artwork!
So head over to 1548 California Street for a drink and to see "Moment!"

Infinite names, 3 Artists, 1 body
Many of you know I have 3 distinct bodies/styles of art, because really, I am 3 different artists in one body.
I have also had many names, call them nicknames, pretend names, whatever. Xiau-Fong even mutates into different versions:
Xiao-Fong
Xiau-Fang
Xian-Fong
Xiau-Fung
Xiau-Fong is also funny sounding- sounds like chiffon, and chow-fun (asian stir fried rice noodles), it's almost a name that destroys itself, so it is kind of a non-name. I am merely a figment of your imagination.
It will never end, and I really don't mind actually! Maybe I am just used to it.
That being said... check out the previous post! I have a show tomorrow. You have to RSVP if you want to attend the opening.
I may see you there :-)
